Contrast in Every Way

Design Team Challenge

Can not believe we have almost seen the end of the 1st month of 2022. In terms of crafting it has definitely been a busy beginning to the year.

This months challenge from Through the Craft Room Blog was a digital stamp from Dr Digi's House of Stamps entitled Audrey and Aubrey . When I was making my choice, (believe me it took a long while), I instantly knew my search was over when I was faced with this pair of characters. I am a great believer in the strength of instinct and for those that share my views you will understand that I couldn't tell you what attracted me to the image at that moment it just did.

But when putting my creating head on for any card, I analyse what it is I see in the image as this is usually my focus when I incorporate the image into a card or creation. So what did I see? Well I saw an old couple recapturing their youth with no hesitation regardless of expectations. Like most of us I still enjoy many of the past times of my youth the difference between that and now, (except for time) is nothing, to me there is no difference. But when I look at the image I see it shout out to the world that age doesn't matter when enjoying life. Age doesn't determine when you move to pipe and slippers, and for some people they never make that choice. That's what I wanted to celebrate with this image. To merely enhance that living is essentially about enjoying what we love and who we love.

To achieve this I wanted the contrast in perception to flow through into my creation so by choosing a free downloadable colouring pattern as the backing paper/scene and colouring it in black and white the contrast between that and the fun loving couple in full colour really works for me.

Sentiment was perfect one from my stash with the hand edited "2". The stamp was from Crafters Companion many moons ago.

Until my next installment..... Do what you like and enjoy life xx
